Hello and welcome to my site about staying safe online.
I realised the value of online safety and privacy following ordering a teapot and some fidget spinners off Temu in 2025. It wasn’t until months later when I mentioned my super cheap teapot to a co-worker and they said “oh no you shouldn’t buy off Temu, they have lots of cyber security issues like breaches/selling your data”. I didn’t think much of it until a few months later when I realised that was why I had been getting calls from China and lots of spammy emails and even though I would unsubscribe from the emails I would get new emails from other spammy companies in different countries that I was sure I didn’t subscribe to.
Eventually I got fed up enough that I decided to change my email and phone number to stop this from happening. I looked at different email providers as I wanted a change from Gmail. I tried Proton and eventually signed up as I saw it on someone’s signature block and had become more aware of it and thought it would help me stay safer and have more control over keeping my emails and data safe. This started a multi-month long project of changing the email and phone number of all my online accounts over, and deleting online accounts I hadn’t used in a while.
I’ve started this site to help others to keep their data safe whilst browsing online, and provide useful information about personal privacy and security. I hope it helps you to stay safer online and avoid the admin I had to go through to change all my phone and emails over.
