Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. For more information, see the Gravatar Privacy Policy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture will be visible publicly alongside your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, please avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images you upload.
Cookies
Our site may set cookies in the following ways:
- If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These cookies last for one year.
- On our login page, a temporary cookie is set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
- When you log in, cookies are set to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days, screen options cookies last one year, and if you select “Remember Me,” login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.
- If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved in your browser indicating the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). Embedded content behaves as if you visited the other website directly.

How long we retain your data
- Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.
- Registered users’ personal information is stored in their user profile. Users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except usernames). Administrators can see and edit this information.
Your rights
If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you provided. You can also request we erase your personal data. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
